Hitler was not a Christian, but Sources Say He Admired Islam

Dr. Alfred Rosenberg, Chief of the Political Bureau of the Nazi Party, said: “I have become convinced in my own mind and I think I can speak for the Fuhrer as well, that both the Catholic and Protestant churches must vanish from the lives of our people.”

“The Christian cross is to be removed from all churches and cathedrals and is to be replaced by the unconquerable symbol of Germany—the Swastika.” – Article XXX of the German Reich Church Regulations, as shown in Why We Fight, 1942 Documentary

Muslims often claim that Adolph Hitler was a Christian and thus all Christians are violent and evil just as Hitler was. However, Muslim do not know that sources also say that Hitler actually admired Islam, even admiring it more than Christianity:

Had Charles Martel not been victorious at Poitiers -already, you see, the world had already fallen into the hands of the Jews, so gutless a thing Christianity! -then we should in all probability have been converted to Mohammedanism [Islam], that cult which glorifies the heroism and which opens up the seventh Heaven to the bold warrior alone. Then the Germanic races would have conquered the world. Christianity alone prevented them from doing so. – Adolf Hitler’s Monologe im Führerhauptquartier (Monologue with Headquarters of the Führer). Hamburg: Albrecht Knaus, 1980.

I can imagine people being enthusiastic about the paradise of Mohammed, but as for the insipid paradise of the Christians! In your lifetime, you used to hear the music of Richard Wagner. After your death, it will be nothing but hallelujahs, the waving of palms, children of an age for the feeding bottle, and hoary old men. The man of the isles pays homage to the forces of nature. But Christianity is an invention of sick brains: one could imagine nothing more senseless, nor any more indecent way of turning the idea of the Godhead into a mockery. A n***** with his taboos is crushingly superior to the human being who seriously believes in transubstantiation – “Hitler’s Table Talk”, p. 143, translated by N. Cameron and R.H. Stevens, Enigma Books (1953)

You see, it’s been our misfortune to have the wrong religion. Why didn’t we have the religion of the Japanese, who regard sacrifice for the Fatherland as the highest good? The Mohammedan religion [Islam] too would have been more compatible to us than Christianity. Why did it have to be Christianity with its meekness and flabbiness? – Quoted by Albert Speer, Inside the Third Reich: Memoirs, pg. 115

Clearly, Hitler admired Islam for aspects of brutality and what he viewed as “heroism” compared to Christianity, which he stated himself was too “meek” and would prevent Germany from conquering the world. Author Alan Bullock stated this about Hitler’s views of Christianity in his book, Hitler: a Study in Tyranny:

In Hitler’s eyes, Christianity was a religion fit only for slaves; he detested its ethics in particular. Its teaching, he declared, was a rebellion against the natural law of selection by struggle and the survival of the fittest.

Furthermore, Hitler shared sentiments with Islam in it’s aggression towards Judaism:

This “exchange” occurred when Hitler received Saudi Arabian ruler Ibn Saud’s special envoy, Khalid al-Hud al-Gargani.[7] Earlier in this meeting Hitler noted that one of the three reasons why Nazi Germany had warm sympathies for the Arabs was:

… because we were jointly fighting the Jews. This led him to discuss Palestine and the conditions there, and he then stated that he himself would not rest until the last Jew had left Germany. Kalid al Hud observed that the Prophet Mohammed … had acted the same way. He had driven the Jews out of Arabia …. ” – Arabs & Holocaust, Achcar”, pp. 125—126 – Wikipedia

While Hitler was born Catholic, which Muslims often point out, one can not deny that he detested real Christianity and clearly saw Islam as a more heroic religion sharing the same views as the Nazi party. Whether or not there is a real Islam that does not support violence may be true, we are not here to judge that, however Hitler apparently felt admiration for Islam for violence. In Hitler’s book, Mein Kampf, he stated himself that he was dissatisfied with both Catholicism and Protestantism, because neither faith was concerned with the racial issues with which he was preoccupied with:

The two Christian denominations look on with indifference at the profanation and destruction of a noble and unique creature who was given to the world as a gift of God’s grace. For the future of the world, however, it does not matter which of the two triumphs over the other, the Catholic or the Protestant. But it does matter whether Aryan humanity survives or perishes.

Granted races do not exist and those who hold such ideas only fuel propaganda by people such as Hitler. Some Christians and Muslims alike do at times hold racial sentiments.

Author Ian Kershaw stated in his book, Extract from Hitler, that Hitler wanted to destroy the Churches:

Hitler’s impatience with the churches prompted frequent outbursts of hostility. In early 1937, he was declaring that ‘Christianity was ripe for destruction’ (Untergang), and that the churches must therefore yield to the ‘primacy of the state’, railing against ‘the most horrible institution imaginable.” – Extract from Hitler 1936-1945 Nemesis

These are just a few among many quotes, which show that Hitler in his own words and actions favored, or began to favor at one point, Islam over Christianity. The fact that he at times claimed to be a Christian, mostly in his early career,  was nothing more than a political ploy to gain support from Germans. Hitler’s brutality as well proves he was not a Christian for Jesus clearly says in the Bible that aggression and hostility is not a Christian attribute:

Matthew 5: 43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? 48 Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

This reminds me of the saying, “If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck”.  Hitler did not “look” or act as a Christian in action or deed. Nor did he walk like a Christian meaning he did not live for God and walk with God in all that he did. Nor did he talk like one in word.

Muslims can perhaps sympathize with this since many Muslims say Islam is not violent and is peaceful. If so, then it can be reasoned that Hitler’s liking for Islam does not exactly make him a Muslim or reflect upon other Muslims just as his sentiments at earlier stages for Christianity and his later distaste of it, proves likewise he was not a Christian. Muslims need to understand that while Hitler claimed at some points to be a Christian does not mean he was one. Christianity is about living for God. It is a faith that is a living where our will is put aside to walk with God.

The bible speaks a lot about good fruit and bad fruit. Hitlers actions as a military leader who held a hatred for other people is clearly not in line with the bible, thus his actions and life style were not Christian. Jesus said clearly Christians or His followers would be known by their good fruit while false Christians and others would be known by their bad fruit:

Matthew 7:15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

Hitler’s fruit was clearly not Christian and thus he can not be claimed to have been one.
